Hello and welcome to my blog.

My name is Mr. Antivirus, and I have worked in various companies over the years working within the PC security industry.

One thing that I have noticed within the last few years, with the increasing integration of the internet into our lives, is the sudden explosion of malicious software, and the ease in which they can entered home PCs.

In the past, the only way viruses could enter your home PC was if you brought home a dodgy floppy disk which contained an virus infected software on it. However nowadays, all you need to do is log onto the internet, and without the proper antivirus software installed on your PC, you can be infected with the latest virus or worm even by simply viewing the wrong website - or even worse, just by connecting to the internet, and not even viewing ANY websites for that matter.

Many companies have sprouted up over the years, offering the ultimate defence against viruses, including Macafee, Symantec, AVG etc. In my opinion, the best protection against viruses is a combination of an effective suit of security software, coupled with common sense.

For example, for my many PCs at home, I always have at least 1 firewall always running. A popular choice is ZoneAlarm - which I never turn off. This way, I am at least protected knowing that whenever I visit a website, there is no way that spyware or viruses will install themselves on my PC without me knowing - and acting on it.

In addition, whenever I download something from the internet, whethere it be a setup file, or a word document, I always scan it with Norton Antivirus software.

Norton antivirus is the classic software, and probably one of the best known in the PC industry. As the name suggests, it protects PCs from all the latest Viruses, Spyware, Worms, and Adware that can popup suddenly from nowhere.

I actually last week found a great link to Norton Antivirus, downloadable 100% legally for free at www.norton-antivirus-free.info
Check it out when you have the time.

In the next post, I will be going more in depth into the various types of Viruses out there, and what you can do about them right now, without spending too much money (most of the software I will suggest are free anyway). Until net time, this is Mr. Antivirus and have a good evening,
Hello, and welcome to Mr. Antivirus's blog.

In this blog, I will focus on talking about all matters related to PC Security, such as Antivirus software, Firewalls, removal of Spyware etc.

In the next post, I will detail my experience working in the PC Security industry for many years, and how I can draw on this experience to help protect everyday home PC users such as yourself, in efforts to protect your PC from malicious viruses and spyware.
